This is my first electric instrument (U-bass) and the electronics package came with wood screws as fasteners, is this normal? I would have expected machine screws (bolts) with some sort of tee-nut or threaded inside frame.
I guess that my questions are is this normal and what reinforcement do you use inside.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have seen some boxes that have wood screws and some with machine screws. The machine screws threaded into a stamped steel mounting plate or ring shaped to match the box. I think the machine screws are superior to wood screw mount. One wood screw mount that I saw was a box in a low cost guitar that had come loose from the side. They had no brace under the side wood at all so I added a couple braces and reattached the screws. So far as I know it is still in place.

Thanks!
I will back-up the sides with side material (cross-grain) and try the screws. After I close the box, any repair will be very difficult through the double-puka sound holes.
